Leadership Called By God

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

(Judges 4:1-24) God calls many, even the unlikely, into leadership. And reading this passage in Judges shows also that there is definetly a place for women to be in leadership. God lead Deborah to be a judge and leader over all of Isreal. We know from what we read that in those times it wasn’t very common to see women in positions of leadership.

(Judges 13:1-14) As this passage tells of the preperations for Samson’s birth, it was clear that Samson’s parents wanted to know how to raise him according to God’s desire. Most parents do want the best for their children, to bring them up to be good people, as Christian parents we want our children to be followers as well. The reality is that whether it is raising a children or sharing the Gospel to others, their decisions are beyond our control.

Weakness Keeps Away Pride

(2 Corinthians 12:7-10) As Paul saw clearly, we are all weak, and it’s through our weakness that we see our need for grace and the salvation the comes through Christ. If we didn’t have failures, if we were always perfect people, there would be no need for grace, Christ would have died for nothing. This isn’t an endorsement for our weakness, it doesn’t mean that it is ok for us to live in weakness. The amazing thing however is that God strength is what will shine through our weaknesses.

Long Time Faith

Monday, July 31st, 2006

(Luke 2:25-40) This morning as I read, the thing that stuck out to me most was the very fact that we see two very old prophets that continued to have faith in God’s promise of a messiah fo so many years. I think about myself and how God promises so much yet my faith can grow short because of the wait that comes with that promise. It seem that this culture we live in today seems to demand everything quick and according to the timing we want it in. I do not desire to be thinking about what I want, and the timing of it, but what God wants for me according to His perfect timing. I need to go to Him each day with thanksgiving for the day that He’s given me, and leave the revealing of His promises and work in my life in His hands. This is my prayer for today.
