Information Wisdom

(Proverbs 1:1-9) The devotional this morning hit me where it counts, sort of. Taking a little poke at the whole Web/Internet. Basically, with the Internet so prevalent in homes today there is a vast amount of information available to us. All of this information, however, doesn’t give us wisdom, and especially not the kind of wisdom that only comes from God. Solomon was given great wisdom, beyond what we could ever hope to attain, and much of that wisdom is found in the book of Proverbs.

There are so many little glimpses of wisdom found in the book of Proverbs that it seems like it would take a lifetime to really know it and be living it. I was challenged, however, in taking the time to really take in all that wisdom that has been given to us in Proverbs. The call to meditate on it, remember it, and put it into practice. This is something I definitely wish to pursue.

Mother’s Day Special: A Mother’s Love – 2006.05.14

    Today’s Topic: Mother’s Day Special: A Mother’s Love

  • This week I’m doing a special edition of the podcast in honor of Mother’s Day, and more specifically in honor of my mother. As I was thinking about the topics of Mother’s Day, I was reminded of the passage in scripture that talks about love.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
    • (4) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (5) It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. (6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (7) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
  • Is Patient
  • Is Kind/Is Not Self-Seeking
  • Always Protects
  • Always Hopes
  • Always Perseveres
