Religion Alone is Not Enough

Religion Alone is Not Enough

(1 Samuel 4:1-11) In today’s passage the Isrealites lost the Ark of the Covenant in battle. Why did this happen? The Isrealites were trying to use religion to solve their problem and get what they wanted. They were on the right tracking with feeling that it was something spiritual that was wrong, however it’s not religion alone that saves it’s a personal relationship with Christ. At that time Christ wasn’t here but religion alone still wasn’t the answer.

Many people have the idea that simply being religious is good enough to get them to heaven. They think it’s all about what they do that can save them. Our salvation is a free and paid for gift from God. When Christ said “It is finished” on the cross, he proclaimed that he had completed everthing that was needed for salvation. All that we can do is accept that gift and then follow Christ in response to receiving it.
