Holding on to Faith

(1 Samuel 13:1-14) In this passage Saul revealed his lack of faith, and trust, in the Lord. Rather than following God’s instruction he took matters into his own hands. I think we all have times where we fail in this same area. How strong is our faith in all areas of our lives, and especially when times get tough.

Blessings Through Faith

(Joshua 14:1-15) In this breif passage Caleb, one of the the people Moses sent out to scout out the land, came to Joshua to ask for the land that God had promised him. Why had God promised him that land? Before the Isrealites were forced to roam the wilderness for fourty years it was only Caleb who had faith in God to turn over the promise land to the Isrealites. The other scouts that had also gone out had little faith and caused fear to come over all of the Isrealites. Caleb had a heart full of faith and confidence in what God could do to bring the Isrealites into the new land, and it was through that God blessed Caleb with a long life and a promise of lands for his tribe.

Promises and Faithfulness

(Joshua 2:1-21, Joshua 6:15-25) What stood out to me today was how this story showed both how the Isrealites were faithful to the promise made to Rahab, but ultmiately how this also showed an example to God’s faithfulness to fullfill the promise He made to give the Isrealites this land.

Dry Ground 2

(Joshua 3:1-17) I was never aware that when the Isrealites finally were allowed to go into the promised land that they experienced a second parting of the waters, this time on the Jordan River. God’s intention for the second parting of waters was to show the Isrealites that God was with Joshua. I guess having to wonder in the wilderness for 40 years might have had the Isrealites doubting God’s promise.
