Overcoming Giants

(1 Samuel 17:32-51) Just as David was called to face Goliath, there will be times in our lives when, as followers of Christ, when we will be faced with giants that we will not be able to stand against without the help of the Lord. Even with the help of the Lord however, He has still given us skills that can be used by Him to overcome those giants.

Holding on to Faith

(1 Samuel 13:1-14) In this passage Saul revealed his lack of faith, and trust, in the Lord. Rather than following God’s instruction he took matters into his own hands. I think we all have times where we fail in this same area. How strong is our faith in all areas of our lives, and especially when times get tough.

The Price of Following

(Matthew 10:16-42) In today’s passage it is very clear that there is a price for following Christ. It is something that can cause even family to be at odds. The command however is that not even family is to come before Christ. It can be so easy to put others or things above God, even easier to use your family ties as an excuse to change your witness as a follower of Christ.

Don’t Let The Glory Fade

(1 Samuel 4:12-22) As Isreal’s defeat by the Philistines was reported to Eli the priest things seemed to get darker for the Isrealites. Both of Eli’s sons were killed and the Ark of the Covenant had been taken. Eli’s reaction caused him to end up dead as well as one of his son’s wives. She went into labor early and died giving birth. The unfortunate path that the Isrealites were on was causing great harm to there people. They had turned to practicing religion and letting the morals demise.
