Who Has Power?

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

(Judges 9:1-21) Though it wouldn’t seem so easily seen in this passage of scripture, what spoke to me is that of being a servant. It is very easy for us to want to be in control of, at the very least, our own lives but sometimes we seek to wield control over others. (Luke 7:36-50) A quick note for today. It’s amazing how especially as men our logic gets in the way. The kind of love that Christ calls us to is really beyond what logic can understand. When the sinful woman wept at Jesus feet and washed them with her tears Simon the Pharisee began using his logic to make judgement about who Christ was. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) As Paul saw clearly, we are all weak, and it’s through our weakness that we see our need for grace and the salvation the comes through Christ. If we didn’t have failures, if we were always perfect people, there would be no need for grace, Christ would have died for nothing. This isn’t an endorsement for our weakness, it doesn’t mean that it is ok for us to live in weakness. The amazing thing however is that God strength is what will shine through our weaknesses.
