Our True Hearts

(1 Samuel 2:1-36) The sons of Eli were not carrying out their duties as servants of God but rather servants of themselves. God saw this and gave a warning of how they would have to pay for their sinful behavior.

Where Have The Good Samaritans Gone?

(Luke 10:25-36) When God gave us the command to love Him with all our heart and love our neighbors as ourselves, He wasn’t putting any conditions on loving our neighbors, that wa exactly Jesus’ reason for the parable. With it becoming dangerous to even stop by the side of the road to help someone, even helping strangers in general, we feel as though we can no longer be good Samaritans. Is our faith so small that we can’t put our trust in God for His safety even in light of the potential danger of helping strangers? When the Samaritan man helped the injured man, he was taking a social risk yet he was still following God’s command.

Who Has Power?

(Judges 9:1-21) Though it wouldn’t seem so easily seen in this passage of scripture, what spoke to me is that of being a servant. It is very easy for us to want to be in control of, at the very least, our own lives but sometimes we seek to wield control over others. As followers of Christ, He gave us the example of servanthood, and that is the example we are to following. We are even called to be servants when we are in positions of leadership, this is how great of a calling we have to servanthood.

Promises and Faithfulness

(Joshua 2:1-21, Joshua 6:15-25) What stood out to me today was how this story showed both how the Isrealites were faithful to the promise made to Rahab, but ultmiately how this also showed an example to God’s faithfulness to fullfill the promise He made to give the Isrealites this land.
