He gave us churches because He knew there were strength in numbers, to hold on to our faith. Prayer can also hang on whether we have unity, with our spouse or with the rest of the church. If our prayers are not united that can cause them to go unanswered, and especially if those prayers are under wrong motives. We’re called to be united, and when we aren’t that’s when Satan can take a foot hold and tear us further apart.

(1 Timothy 2:3-8)…In 1 Timothy men are being called to prayer. If you read much of callings given to the church in Scripture there is a lot that is directed towards the men of the church. There have also been many studies done to show that men have become the minority in churches, especially in leadership. Are the Christian men of today failing in what they’re called to be and do by God? Is it because of this great lack of men stepping up to God’s calling that our world is in such a wreck. Are we as men failing our families? Our first step in correcting our state as men should be in prayer, for forgiveness for not doing what we are called to do, and for guidance as we begin to correct our mistakes.

(1 Timothy 2:1-2)…How to we begin anything in our lives, the day, the meal, a trip? God wants us to always start with Him, so that we are relying on Him, and seeking His will first, in all things. I know that I don’t always start things with prayer. I’ve always been a little intimidated by prayer. It’s not that I never pray, but I tend to shy away from it. That’s a terrible way to live. God doesn’t care about some elegant prayer, He wants our true heart to come through in our prayers. The more time I spend in prayer the more natural it will be to pray. I do know that it is easier to write to God than to speak to Him. That has a lot to do with me in general. I need to begin my days writing to Him.

(Matthew 26:36-41, Mark 1:35-39)…As Christians, Christ is our example. What kind of prayer life did he have? If Jesus Christ needed to pray, how much more do we? What more can be said? When we look at the life of Christ we see him go to God in prayer so often. If we desire to be followers of Christ, how can we continue on without making prayer a high priority in our lives?
