(Nehemiah 9:5-15)…So often we look at prayer as a way to bring our requests to God. While that is in there it’s really only the smallest part. When we go to God in prayer we need to be focusing on Him. We need to give Him the thanks & praise that he deserves. We need to ask Him for forgiveness for our sinfulness. If we are truly focused on God then our prayers will be in line with His will, and we won’t be just coming at Him with requests but instead will be acknowledging His will in our lives. God is bigger than we can even imagine, He deserves to be first in our prayer life.

(Nehemiah 8:1-18)…We’re into week 3 with the subject of prayer. Part way through last week I began to feel tired of the subject. And even this morning I had some of those thoughts. One thing is for certain though, prayer is a very important part of our spiritual lives. This has been a hard area for me for some time. I think God is really looking to get me past this struggle by not letting me skim by on this subject. I can say for sure that prayer has become an even greater part of my life. I for sure have become more intentional with my praying for others. I still need work in this area but the more I continue to work on it the easier it will come, and be more natural part of my day.

(James 4:1-3, 1 Peter 3:1-7)…God has shown us in many ways that we are not meant to go it alone. He gave us marriage because He knew we needed a help. He gave us churches because He knew there were strength in numbers, to hold on to our faith. Prayer can also hang on whether we have unity, with our spouse or with the rest of the church. If our prayers are not united that can cause them to go unanswered, and especially if those prayers are under wrong motives. We’re called to be united, and when we aren’t that’s when Satan can take a foot hold and tear us further apart.

(1 Timothy 2:3-8)…In 1 Timothy men are being called to prayer. If you read much of callings given to the church in Scripture there is a lot that is directed towards the men of the church. There have also been many studies done to show that men have become the minority in churches, especially in leadership. Are the Christian men of today failing in what they’re called to be and do by God? Is it because of this great lack of men stepping up to God’s calling that our world is in such a wreck. Are we as men failing our families? Our first step in correcting our state as men should be in prayer, for forgiveness for not doing what we are called to do, and for guidance as we begin to correct our mistakes.
