Information <> Wisdom

(Proverbs 1:1-9) The devotional this morning hit me where it counts, sort of. Taking a little poke at the whole Web/Internet. Basically, with the Internet so prevalent in homes today there is a vast amount of information available to us. All of this information, however, doesn’t give us wisdom, and especially not the kind of wisdom that only comes from God. Solomon was given great wisdom, beyond what we could ever hope to attain, and much of that wisdom is found in the book of Proverbs.

Finishing…With God’s Help

(Nehemiah 4:1-23) In our lives we face many challenges, and yet as Christians we have one amazing promise. We have God’s promise of being with us until the end, helping us carry out His plan. We can choose to go it alone, and struggle and fight through the challenges, and sometimes we may even get through them. However, the hardship we face trying to go it alone will be so much greater than when we have God on our side, giving us what we need to get through.

Admitting Wrong

(Nehemiah 1:1-11) Nehemiah, like most men had a hard time admitting he was wrong, but in the end he did. One of the greatest characteristics of a leader is one who can openly admit when they are wrong, this is what God calls us to do. As leaders we are called to be examples to others of how we are to live out our lives following Christ. I ask that God would continue to shape me into the kind of follower He calls me to be.

Young Enthusiasm, Old Experience

(Ezra 3:1-13) In the Scripture for today Israel was rebuilding the temple. The young were enthusiastic about what was happening, while the old where think about what had been and the old temple. The young and the old always seem to be at odds with each. A lot has to do with the clash of enthusiasm and experience. The young are always looking to what’s ahead, and not thinking about what came before, while the old don’t have as much life ahead of them so they dwell more on what had been.
