Discipline or Test of Faith?

(Hebrews 12:1-13) As I read this passage beginning in verse five it explained that, as children of God, we will be disciplined for our sin, just as any earthly father would discipline his child. The question that comes to my mind, and sort of relates back to even the story of the blindman, how do we know when a hardship we face is God’s discipline for some sin in our life or if it is God testing our faith?

A Call to Faith

(Hebrews 11:1-40) What is found in Hebrews chapter 11 is sometimes referred to as the “Faith Hall of Fame”. This passage goes on to list the many people of faith that are spoken about in the scriptures, most specifically the Old Testament. As I read through this listing of the kind of faith these people had, in light of their circumstances, I look at my own worries and feel as though I have a long ways to go to be able to reach the kind of faith they had.

True Leadership and Misplaced Faith

(Exodus 32:15-35) God’s word has so many lessons for so many aspects of our lives. Today as I read about the wickedness the Isrealites turned to while Moses was up on the mountain, there was a definite contrast between the leadership of Moses and the leasership of Aaron. We can see a call for a Godly type of leadership as we are here on Earth.

Set Apart

(Exodus 28:1-30) It was described in today’s passage how the priests were set apart both in how they looked, but also what they were called to. As Christians we are also called to be set apart, apart from the world that we live in. We are called to live in this world but not be of it. When those of us around us watch us they should know that we are different. We are not called to flaunt are difference but use it as a way to witness to others about what Christ has done for us.
